Are you experiencing symptoms of menopause?
Many women feel emotional when they realize that they have reached menopause. By definition, a woman has reached menopause when she has not had a menstrual cycle in 12 consecutive months. Menopause is a biological process that every woman goes through. This stage in a woman’s life marks the end of her fertile years.
Menopause is another milestone in women’s lives. It naturally happens and is inevitable. However, for most women, the symptoms of menopause are annoying. Although they are not severe nor life-threatening, symptoms of menopause can cause some changes in the body and both physical and emotional discomfort.
Over the past years, many women have turned to natural remedies to support their body during this important transition in their lives. Some essential oils can be used to alleviate or to relieve the discomfort and unpleasant feelings caused by the symptoms of menopause.
ESSENTIAL OILS FOR SYMPTOMS OF MENOPAUSE
Lavender essential oil
During menopause, a woman experiences a change in hormone levels. This can cause problems with sleep which sometimes leads to feelings of depression. Lavender essential oil is widely used in aromatherapy to promote feelings of relaxation and support healthy sleep. For discomfort or tightness in any part of the body, try using lavender essential oil in a cold compress. Add one drop of lavender essential oil to a cold compress and place it on the affected area.
Peppermint essential oil
Hot flashes are the most common symptoms of menopause. They are sudden feelings of warmth. Hot flashes are most intense over the face, neck, and chest. Women find hot flashes as the most terrible symptom of menopause. This is caused by a drop in estrogen level. To relieve the discomfort of hot flashes, you can use peppermint essential oil. Simply add a few drops of peppermint essential oil in a water spritzer with cold water. Mist it on your face whenever needed. You can also add two or three drops of peppermint essential oil to a piece of tissue and inhale the scent. Peppermint essential oil has a great cooling effect.
Orange essential oil
Mood swings and fatigue are also symptoms of menopause. Lack of sleep can also cause irritability and anxiety. Orange essential oil is great for energizing the body and mind. Try diffusing orange essential oil in the morning to uplift your mood and spirit. You can also make a roller blend of orange essential oil and a carrier oil like sunflower oil. Roll the oil on your palms and inhale for a quick pick-me-up.
Menopause can be an overwhelming stage in a woman’s life. It’s important to remember that it is just a phase in life and it is definitely manageable.
