Do you want to eliminate the stinky smell of cigarette smoke in your room?
When you smoke or when you live with someone who smokes cigarettes, you are at risk of the dangers of cigarette smoking. Cigarette smoking and exposure to tobacco are the leading causes of premature, preventable death in many countries. These premature deaths are from cancer, heart disease, stroke, and lung disease. There are various illnesses and diseases that are linked to cigarette smoking.
Even if you do not smoke, being exposed to cigarette smoke is very dangerous. Second-hand smoke is the smoke that comes from the burning end of a cigarette. This also refers to the smoke that smokers exhale or breathe out. Studies show that a person breathing second-hand smoke is exposed to the same toxins as the person smoking the cigarette. These toxins include tar, nicotine, cyanide, formaldehyde, arsenic, ammonia, methane, carbon monoxide and other cancer-causing chemicals.
Third-hand smoke is a relatively new concept which is the invisible tobacco “dust” or chemicals that stays in the environment even after a cigarette has been put out. Chemical residues of tobacco smoke cling to clothing, wall, furniture, carpet, cushions, hair, skin and other materials exposed to the cigarette smoke. According to studies, some of the toxic substances in third-hand smoke are hydrocyanic acid, butane, toluene, arsenic, lead, carbon monoxide, and polonium-210. Hydrocyanic acid is using chemical weapons, butane is used in lighter fluid, toluene is found in paint thinners and polonium-210 is a highly radioactive carcinogen. Tobacco toxins can stay on surfaces for weeks or even months after the nicotine vapor has been absorbed. This is why the stinky smell of cigarettes also lingers in our skin, clothes and in our room or house.
Getting rid of the cigarette smell in your home is not very easy. Here are some steps you can take:
1. Open the windows and air out the stinky rooms for a few days.
2. Regularly clean hard surfaces, fabrics, upholstery, and carpets.
3. If you have an air purifier, run it on the highest setting for several days.
4. Add some air-purifying essential oils in a diffuser if you have one.
5. Make your own air-purifying and air-freshening spray using essential oils.
DIRECTIONS
1. Add 4 drops each of rosemary, tea tree, and eucalyptus essential oils in a 500 ml glass spray bottle.
2. Top with distilled water
3. Spray around the room, house or car where there is cigarette stink.
If you are a smoker, the best option is to quit smoking for the sake of yourself and to keep your family away from all the harms of smoking. If you are not a smoker but is living with one, do not allow him or her to smoke inside the house.
